Engagement Rings in Bangkok: Where to Buy and What to Pay

If you are shopping for an engagement ring in Bangkok, you are in the right city and probably looking in the wrong buildings. I say that with respect to the malls, which are beautiful. But you do not need beautiful. You need the right ring at the right price, and those are found where the trade actually operates.

Your three options in Bangkok

The luxury malls. Siam Paragon, ICONSIAM, EmQuartier. International brands at international prices, sometimes higher than back home once import duty is baked in. You are paying for the name and the marble.

Thai retail chains. Solid gold trade, decent service, but engagement diamonds are not their core business and the certified stone selection reflects it.

The trade buildings on Silom. This is where I work, at the Jewelry Trade Center. Wholesale dealers, cutters and independent workshops. No storefront theatre, real pricing, and the widest certified stone selection in the country because this is where the stones actually trade.

The price difference, honestly

For the same certified specs, the gap between branded mall retail and factory direct is typically 50 to 80 percent. That is not a discount. It is the absence of costs that were never about your ring: brand premium, flagship rent, sales commissions, marketing. Ready-made or custom

At the trade level, the distinction mostly dissolves. Any competent workshop will set your chosen certified stone into any design in about three weeks. That is just how custom engagement rings work here, and it costs factory labor, not a design surcharge. You get a ring designed around your stone and budget instead of compromising on whatever is in stock.

Buying rules that protect you

• Certified stones only, IGI or GIA, and verify the certificate number online yourself.
• Itemized quotes only. One round number means hidden margin.
• Approve a CAD render before production on any custom work.
• Balance due after you see the finished ring, in person or on a QC video.
• Ignore any shop a tuk tuk driver or friendly stranger insists on taking you to. That is a commission scheme, not a recommendation.

Lab-grown, natural, or colored stone
