Why multi stone pieces are the biggest arbitrage
A tennis bracelet might carry fifty matched stones. At retail, every one of those stones carries the brand's margin, and then the finished piece carries it again. Factory direct, I buy certified melee at trade price, my setter sets them, and the invoice reads: stones, gold, labor. The more stones in the piece, the wider the gap grows. Same trade rules as always. Certified stones where certification applies, itemized invoices without exception, CAD approval on custom pieces, and the balance only after you see the finished work. Melee stones are too small for individual certificates, so on paved pieces you are trusting the maker's sourcing. That is exactly why you want one accountable craftsman rather than an anonymous supply chain, and why I put my name on the work.
